Most of the country is in week 2 of the COVID-19 pandemic. With that lots of adjustments have been made or are being made. This doesn’t look like it will end soon, so we put a list together of how to handle it.
1. Practice social distancing
Staying away from people is not always easy, but it is the best way of stopping the spread of the virus. The best bet is to stay at home. But there are cases when going out is necessary. You may have stocked up on food – but eventually you will have to go out and get food, toiletries, medicine etc. When you go stay a safe distance apart and get what you need quickly. When you get home either wash your hands or use hand sanitizer.
2. Plan for handling your business remotely, if able
Not all jobs can be done remotely, but if there is any way you can – do it. Companies are setting up workstations remotely all over the country. Because of this, laptops are being back-ordered. If you are going to purchase one – do it sooner rather than later. If you have a home computer, we can set you up with a Logmein license to connect to your work computer. It is a secure and easy way to connect to your work computer.
3. Make it easy for customers to contact you
Make sure your customers know how to get a hold of you. Phone numbers may be different working from home – make sure they know this. Have a contact page on your website and send regular newsletters updating the status.
4. Give your customers a clear message for how you will do business
Tell your customers how you will be handling business. If you are working from home, let them know this. Business is bound to work a little differently from home, and your customers will understand. Everyone is going through the same thing, and it may take longer to get a job done. Just be very clear about how you will handle business going forward.
5. Get outside for a walk
Don’t stay cooped up in the house the whole time. Getting outside for fresh air and sunshine will ease the cabin fever. Make time each day to do one activity outside. Just remember to practice social distancing. It is amazing what a little fresh air can do.
6. Don’t panic
And lastly, don’t panic. We will get through this eventually, it is just going to take time. Stay away from gatherings and stay healthy. When this is all over you will have a story to tell.
